On Tuesday the 17th of March Year 6 Green from Trinity College Junior School went to the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. Three parents came along and helped. Mrs Rainer, Mrs Smith and Mr Fong. It started off by all of us getting a tour of a famous Australian submarine The SS Ovens. The submarine was black and 90 metres long. Inside the submarine it was long, tight, cramped and smelly. To get into different rooms of the submarine you had to climb through a small hatch.
The bunks in which you would've slept in were all cramped together. Our tour guide Ron told us lots of facts about the submarine. Then we moved out of the sub to explore the museum. There were lots of different boats to see.
There was the Australia II, the Parry Endeavour and a special exhibition called The Last Gentleman of War. This particular exhibition was there because this year is the century of The ANZAC landing at Gallipoli. The Last Gentleman of War Exhibition documented the battle between HMS Emden and HMAS Sydney, which was Australia's first naval victory. It was called the Last Gentleman of War because of the fact that the captains of the ship didn’t kill their captures but instead showed them great respect.
