6Green and TCVoice 4 radio

Year 6 green is participating in this exciting initiative!

Trinity College is teaming up with Sonshine 98.5FM to broadcast our first ever Radio Campaign. #TCVoice4Radio is an exciting new competition designed to bring out the Radio Presenter/Disc Jockey potential in YOU! Imagine you are on your way to school, weaving through the traffic when suddenly you recognise your voice speaking over the stereo… We are offering the chance for three lucky students to have their voice broadcast over the radio!
So warm up your vocal chords, channel your creativity and record a 30 second video recording (this is so that it is compatible with Facebook) talking about your favourite things at Trinity College. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of Judges at Trinity College.  Three winners will be selected and these students will all have the opportunity to visit the radio station and produce an advertisement for Trinity College, to be broadcast live in September on SonshineFM Radio.
To find out more visit this link.
The boys are currently scripting and rehearsing their adverts, maybe some future Eoin Camerons or Fred Bottigas in the making??

A rich experience at the Perth Mint!

Hmm how do I coin the phrase??

Year 6 green partnered by 6 Blue had a golden time at the Perth Mint today. The boys whet their appetite for a Gold rush in Kalgoorlie next week with a very interesting tour. They handled a $600000 gold bar, saw liquid gold being poured and viewed the largest gold coin in the world, weighing a staggering 1 tonne.

Here are a few pictures.

It's all getting a bit dramatic!

This week the boys have been busy creating their own drama presentations. Under the wise instruction of drama expert and 6 Green Parent Mrs Natalie White the class are recreating a dramatic portrayal of the historic discovery of gold in Kalgoorlie in  June 1893 by Paddy Hannan.

This is Task 3 on our Gold website, http://trinitygoldrush.weebly.com/

Its been a brilliant opportunity for some fine acting talent to be realised as well as engagement with script writing and imagination.

Stay tuned for performance dates in due course. below are some pictures of rehearsals.

6 Green Gold Website

Dear Parents,

In collaboration with our IT guru Mrs Wilkie, I have created a website containing several tasks that I will guide the boys through. The website is devoted to all things "GOLD" and will help prepare the class for our upcoming adventure to Kalgoorlie in week 10.

I have designed four tasks that we will explore over the next 4 weeks. I have created a diverse range of activities for the class to engage with in the hope that they will;

  • Gain knowledge of what is gold the mineral
  • Grasp a sense of gold's place in World History
  • Discover gold's connection to Kalgoorlie and its impact on WA
  • Develop an understanding of its contribution to Australia's historical growth
You can explore the website hereWe are currently completing the first task this week. I encourage you to discuss the first task with your son.
Some amazing facts have already been researched.

U2 Homework Task week5

SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS!!

This is the title of a song by Irish Band U2. Mr Hayes' favourite band.

It is a song that has a lot in common with all of us. Mr Hayes would like you to complete the following tasks.

1. Listen to the song here.  You can also follow along with the lyrics here.

After a couple of listens ask yourself what is the song talking and reflecting about? Have a chat with someone at home and ask for their opinion. Write a paragraph about what you think.

2. Ask yourself what are some of the lyrics of the song that you can relate to and why. Please list 3.

3. Research 5 facts about U2.

4. Draw or paste a picture which describes how this song makes you feel, or something it reminds you of.

Extra task- Can you create your own verse to this song?

You can complete and present your responses however you like. This could be your surface or on paper, but evidence of writing is compulsory!
All sections must be completed by Friday. We will do lots of sharing so be ready to talk (Maybe some work on your public speaking targets during the week??)
